Camp Staff Positions

Location: Garden Valley, ID ( 1hr from Boise)

Requirements

Woman, age 21 or older

Native/Fluent English Speaker

Valid U.S. Driver’s License
Current Boise, ID resident (or be able to provide own transportation to Boise)

Attend a mandatory 1 hour training session in Boise on Sept 5 (time and location TBD)

All staff must check-in the night before camp at 7pm on Thursday Sept 10

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Camp Chef to lead our kitchen during camp. This role involves planning and preparing three meals per day for 50–70 participants while supervising a small kitchen crew. The ideal candidate has strong culinary experience, works well under pressure, and can adapt quickly to a camp-style environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan a simple, efficient 3-day menu (breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day) following a set budget
  • Prepare and serve meals for 50–70 guests
  • Manage and support a kitchen team of 2-3
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and food handling
  • Adapt meals as needed for dietary restrictions or allergies
  • Coordinate meal service timing with event organizers

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional kitchen experience
  • Prior experience in catering, batch cooking, school cafeteria, or camp/retreat settings is a plus
  • Ability to manage a small team and deliver meals on schedule
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Idaho Food Handlers Permit

Compensation & Details

  • 3 nights of accommodation
  • All meals
  • Participation in any camp activities when cooking duties are not required
  • Flat compensation of $500 covering the camp dates and any needed planning time
  • Primary role is to assist in the kitchen during meal preparation and support cleanup afterward.
  • Must have a current Idaho Food Handlers permit or be willing to obtain one.
  • Candidates with professional kitchen experience will be prioritized. 

This is an unpaid volunteer position

  • Lead 3-5 activities a day 
  • Must be qualified to lead the following activities:
    • Jam Making
    • Sourdough Starter Bread OR Homemade Tortillas
    • Cookie/Cake/Cupcake Decorating
  • Ability to lead additional activities in cooking or other disciplines as approved
  • May be asked to help out during meal times as needed
  • Must have a Idaho Food Handlers Permit
  • Serve as a team lead to a group of 10-12 campers

This is an unpaid volunteer position

  • Lead 3-5 activities a day 
  • Must be qualified to lead the following activities:
    • Crocheting or Embroidery
    • Paint & Sip
    • Tie Dye Shirts
    • At Least 2 of the following:
      • Bath Bomb Making
      • Soap Making
      • Essential Oils
      • Drawing
      • Calligraphy
      • Origami
      • Flower Pressing
      • Resin Crafts
      • Clay Art 
  • Ability to lead additional activities in crafting
  • Serve as a team lead to a group of 10-12 campers
  • Help out throughout camp as needed

This is an unpaid volunteer position

  • Lead 3-5 activities a day 
  • Must be qualified to lead the following activities:
    • Group Hike
    • Start & Extinguish the Bonfire – ensure fire safety guidelines are followed at all times
    • At least 2 of the following activities:
      • Gardening Basics
      • Composting
      • Bug & Insect Exploration
      • Fire Building (w/ no matches/lighter)
      • Astrology/Astronomy
      • Birdwatching
      • Fishing Tips
      • Fish Cleaning
      • Plant Identification
      • Orienteering/Map Reading
      • Rope Knot Tying
  • Ability to lead additional activities as approved
  • Serve as a team lead to a group of 10-12 campers
  • Help out throughout camp as needed

This is an unpaid volunteer position

  • Lead 3-5 activities a day 
  • Must be qualified to lead the following activities:
    • Kickball or Volleyball
    • Rock Climbing Wall (training will be provided)
    • At least 2 of the following activities:
      • Yoga or other fitness class 
      • Meditation
      • Culture Traditions
      • Intro to Language Class (Spanish, Sign Language, etc)
      • Folklore & Mythology Session

      • Storytelling Circle
      • Journaling
      • Poetry Workshop
      • Tarot Card Reading
      • Singing
      • Hand/Cup Drumming
      • Improv
      • Conflict Resolution Skills Lecture or any other life skills lecture
      • Additional activities that don’t fit in the categories of Crafting, Cooking or Outdoors (as approved)
  • Serve as a team lead to a group of 10-12 campers
  • Help out throughout camp as needed

This is an unpaid volunteer position

  • Must have verifiable experience creating UCG content for various platforms
  • Must be comfortable in front of the camera and up to date with current social media trends
  • Record raw video of activities throughout camp
  • Generate at least 2 short form content pieces a day
  • Lead 1 class on phone photography and/or social media tips
  • Serve as a team lead to a group of 10-12 campers

Compensation

All positions except for Camp Chef are unpaid.
